When we think of our moral and character flaws we often put them under being “Only Human”. The one term we avoid is calling it is what the Bible calls it: sin. The word ‘sin’ means falling short of the mark and the mark is God.
This awareness can have one of two effects on us: guilt or shame. One is life, the other is death. Guilt, a conviction of the Holy Spirit, leads to repentance. Shame leads to isolation and hiding.
